    24" monitor reducing my resoloution.

hi guys, i have this monitor:

    http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/p...d&sku=320-6095

and i wanted to reduce the resolution to 1680 to 1050 BUT i want it to actually be that size, i.e. the screen in the middle and a border around it. not that resolution stretched to fit the whole screen.
i ask because i want to play games on here and my card cant cope with such a high native resolution

use the change flat panel scaling option in nvidia control panel to do not scale, if it doesnt work you need to update the drivers, it works on version 180.43

i would have thought the 8800's in sli would cope though, what you playing ?

Re: 24" monitor reducing my resoloution.

While you have a working solution it may be worth checking to see if the monitor supports 1:1 pixel mapping.

If it does turn that on instead, in your current setup the graphics card is generating the image and then having to add black pixels around the outside so that it actually sends a 1920*1200 image to the monitor for display, if the monitor can display 1:1 pixel mapping then the card will not need to do this and will have more processing power for playing games (not a lot mind but every little helps as they say!)

To find out if your monitor supports 1:1 read the manual or have a flick through the OSD (on Screen Display) options to see if you can find it.
