    Angry Router: Driving me Mad

I am on the verge of blowing up my pc. I use a Netgear DM602 Router/modem to connect to my ADSL whihc is provided by nlidram. Every so often the cnnection just drops and I am unable to access the internet. The only way around this is to right click on the connection in the netowkr connections box and click on repair. Sometimes this has to be done a couple of times.

Once I have done this it appears fine. I have all the latest drivers fdor my netowkr card, router etc. I am not realley sure what is happenning wiht this. Any ideas?
    Specs:

    wrong forum but never mind...
have you checked for firmware on the netgear website?
I get this quite often with one of my wireless cards in a tosh laptop, where every couple of days, once you bring it out of standby it fails to re-establish DHCP connectivity.
Found out that it was an implementation flaw in it's powermanagemnet features.
Check this on your network card, and disable standby on your pc is a possible fix. Or just do what I do, and force your ip settings.

Sorry I tried posting in the correct forum once but you never get any replies.

How do you force the IP settings?

another thing that may cause the router to disconnect is illwired and wrongly configured filtering in the home. Double check the filters and if you can pick up the phone and make your ADSL go off, then its down to the filtering.

Other reasons for this maybe a DCHP problem on the router, Have you tried to manually assign the IP addresses to each PC with the router IP as the gateway?

if it keeps occurring - ring Nildram - they will not bite and they can check the line for you

Happy hunting the source of the problem
