Both are fine to buy from, i tend to stay away from OCUK unless I have to, mainly because of their delivery prices, but ive never had any problems from either. Own brands are fine, theyre all reference boards with a different sticker on them as far as im aware, no more likely to break than any other.

The difference tends to be the warranty. As an example, EVGA gives UK customers 10 year warranty (as long as you register the product) whereas own brand items are only a year.
Sorry but you're wrong here, Novatech "own" brand vary, a few years back when I got a novatech "own" brand 6800LE what I actually got was a leadtek card.
Going by the pic of the novatech "own" brand 4870 1gb
http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/s...html?NOV-48701
The box with the frog image is the one used by Plait/xpertvision So I'd not be surprised if that is the actual make of the card.
This does appear to be a stock card.
Also one review
Which is not the one pictured, so you cannot really go by the picture, think of it as bargin potluck.Received very quickly on FREE delivery and it is a Powercolor PCS+ HD4870.Not yet tested as it is a Xmas present!!
novatech have been very good with me when I had to return a faulty card, the same can not be said for OcUK
However this was 5 years ago and things may of changed

No you're right, sorry sleepyhead, I quoted the wrong person. my boob and fixed now.
ALthough I will say that 1year warranty is common on most graphics card, BFG and EVGA are about the only people to offer more than 1 year (10year on both)
Novatech did offer 5year on a couple of their own brand cards a while back though. (not now)
No worries Pob. My original post is quite badly written; I re-read it and rather than an example it's a statement.
As advised, I downloaded FRAPS... ran it whilst playing COD4 online...

I assume by these figures that my current setup is more than adequate for COD4, and such games?
Yes that would be a fair assumption, those framerates are more than adequate, it never dropped below 30 so its fine

By your fps I would say no to an upgrade.
Wait till the next gen games/cards to make it worthwhile.

Thanks for the help guys.
I think I will spend the money on a TV or a HTPC...I will keep the 8800GT for now. It is an awsome card all the same..
This has put me off upgrading as well.
Was going to get one of the next Nvidia cards when they were released (Was going to buy around August) but I may not now.
Saying that things will have changed by then plus i like to play Crysis and GTA IV
yeah wait until u have a new game that gets twitchy, that's when i upgrade.
accidental thanks. enjoy it.
