firewire problem

I have an I920 and Asus P6T SE Mobo but for some reason it will not recognise my FW camcorder. I have tried both the rear port and the front case port but no joy. I tested it on my old comp and it recognised no problem. Both comps are running WIN 7 RC, is there any additional driver for the P6?
I dont think so but worth asking or is it a dead FW connection on the MOBO?

Quickly off the top of my head: is it enabled in the bios?

Is there a FW device or controller in Device Manager?

Yes its eabled in BIOS and also shows up in DM. If I delete it reintalls after HW scan in DM

No idea then. I've never had to trouble shoot FW, it's always just worked whenever I've used it.

Well let's try the obvious question, do you have another FireWire device you can test to see if that works? Then we can isolate if the problem is related to the port itself (which includes, but is not limited to, a driver issue), or the cable and/or the camcoder itself.
