SN45G Shuttle new rig + bootup problem...

    Hi all,

Not sure which forum to post this in, but here goes a shot at it.

I've just bought a Shuttle SN45G and bought all the following components NEW:
    AMD Athlon "Barton" XP2500+ 333FSB (Socket A)
    Crucial 512MB DDR PC2700
MSI X48 Active Panel 48x/24x/16x CD-RW/DVD Combo Drive
    IBM/Hitachi Deskstar 7K250 120GB
Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS 7.1 THX
    Asus ATI Radeon 9600SE/TD 128MB
I've fitted them all exactly as it says in the manuals and turned it on. Everything ok. I install WinXP onto it - everythings ok... it formats the disk and installs as expected...

Now, I installed the mainboard drivers (FN45), reboot... everythings ok.

I installed the Asus drivers as on the disk, everything ok.

It restarts... and I get a blue screen...

Windows has stopped loading to prevent damage to your PC, please either:

reboot, check for viruses, reconnect and hard drive floppy drive or any IDE interfaces blah blah blah.... run chkdsk /f
then the error code (some massive number).

I tried restarting, and I get the options:

    Safe Mode,
    Safe mode + Networking,
    Safe Mode and Command Prompt,
    Last known good configuration
    Start Windows normally..

I've tried Safe Mode, Safe Mode and Command Prompt, last known good configuration and also start windows normally.

Each time I get the same blue screen asking me to check for viruses, reboot etc...

I've had a look around BIOS and changed settings to "fail-safe" etc, but still the same screen.

Now, it cant be a virus as it hasn't even been on the internet or touched another file, other than what has been on the driver CDs + WinXP....

Has the HDD failed? I've got the HDD in my other shuttle (the one i'm using now) and it has picked it up fine... I can browse the HDD fine, I can see windows folder ect ect...

Anyone hazard a guess at the problem could be? This is the first time I've attempted to build my own rig, is there something I've missed out?

    Any help appreciated!

    Cheers,
    Nick

Check that you've mounted the Shuttle ICE properly on the CPU.
