Re: Weird Asus Rampage II Extreme problem

well i don't believe it, turned off earlier, went back a couple of hours later, hit the power button and it lit up for 1 second then turned off.

now it keeps doing the same.

time to rebuild it and have to endure a scan RMA to top things off if a new cpu and PSU dont fix it.

Re: Weird Asus Rampage II Extreme problem

in the fact its only staying on long enough to do one blink and power off !

i found another chappy on the asus forums who has my issue and he also linked to a youtube vid of the same thing.

this boards only lasted 5 bloody months and this is a RMA replacement for one that lasted a matter of days.

Try a spare PSU first, if you have one.
I could pin it down to the PSU with this.
Might work for you as well.

Re: Weird Asus Rampage II Extreme problem

an enermax 1250w and a new cpu arrive tomorrow. the link i found on the asus website point to a duff board though.

i stripped it out today and it still did the same, with or without cpu and ram so it don't look good.

remove the 12v ATX CPU cable and it powers and does nothing the same as the thread i found

Re: Weird Asus Rampage II Extreme problem

oh well, new PSU and CPU arrived this morning, sods law its the board thats broken again, lets see if number 3 brings any more luck !

RMA raised with scan, close up photo taken of the CPU socket with the rma number and serial number of the board in view incase of any refusal due to bent pins/paste in the CPU socket.

tried numerous bios resets and the final test was out the PC on a plastic tray with new CPU, PSU, all 3 sticks of ram 1 at a time and 2 video cards.

i think that confirms its FUBAR

They don't seem very reliable those boards I've heard a few people saying they've failed on them.

Re: Weird Asus Rampage II Extreme problem

Mine is working fine, apart from the last problem, but that was not really a problem.
Can't see that they are not reliable.

i know, there very popular among the overclockers, your bound to get faults. the last BIOS has been great for most people finally fixing the cold boot issues.

Re: Weird Asus Rampage II Extreme problem

Sorry maybe I worded it wrong - I mean I've heard of a fair few of them failing, more than any other board I can think of.
