Basic PC for work, music, films, Sim like games.

What sorta machine should we be looking at for the following..music, sims, films, work, all bought from scan...as its close and handy...if i dont get messed around again. Try and keep it as cheap as poss guys.

I have a rough idea of what sorta thing i should be looking at nowadays, but thought it was worth a few mins of the hexus experts time to help a fellow geek out .

    Andy.

    What is your budget??

An Athlon II X4 620 would be a good basis for a basic PC.

This is what I would get:

    AMD Athlon II X4 620 ~ £76

    Biostar TA785GE 128M ~ £57

    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Biost...-RAID-mATX-VGA

Has 128mb of GDDR2 for the IGP.

    4GB PC2-8500 DDR2 RAM ~ £57

    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/4GB-%...S-5-6-6-18-EPP

    Samsung F3 500GB ~ £37

    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/500Gb...-Cache-8ms-OEM

    Coolermaster Elite 330 ~ £28

    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Coole...Scan-Exclusive

    350W Enermax PSU ~ £40

    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/350W-...ready!-24-740C

This is a higher effiency PSU.

    SATA DVD rewriter ~ £16

The total comes to around £311.

Re: Basic PC for work, music, films, Sim like games.

AMD system built on a 785 chipset (the onboard graphics should be fine for sims)
Athlon x2, although for the price the athlon x4 is worth a look
Memory can be cut to 2gb if you need to drop the total slightly to get it in budget
    decent 500gb hd
    DVDr/w
    400w psu
    cheap case

Just look on scan, I cannot be to look it up for you right now

EDIT: look at that Just before I hit the Post button, CAT was enough to list it for you
