OiD m8 - how do you find the Gamsurround Fortissimo 7.1 ? I've got the older version (fortissimo II) and really like it, was contemplating getting that as an upgrade - any good ?

Good day people... A memory question if I may - as you folks are obviously experienced

My specs below are mostly in the process of being ordered. (I already have Mobo and AMD XP 2800, along with a Super Flower Rythmic Blue Alu case in Black - nice! .)

Will the 2700 (Corsair 512MB XMS2700LL DDR SDRAM) be good, or is it worth going for 3200 memory? I do realise with this set up I will get far better results using a matched pair of sticks. Just a little confused about 2700/3200 - I am assuming this figure relates to the processor (XP 2800). Could somebody possibly advise?

    Many, many thanks

    Rob

PC2700 means it has a speed of 166mhz, whereas PC3200 has a speed of 200mhz. PC2700 is enough for your CPU, since it has an FSB of 166. However, if you are intending to overclock, you may be better off getting some PC3200. If you're not overclocking, then there is little point in getting PC3200 since it will just run at PC2700 speeds.

    Hope this helps

    Mike

P.S. It might be best in the future to make your own thread when asking questions!
