Not bad, although my brand new Sempy 140 + ASUS 785-EVO and 2GB ECC RAM only ran up to about £120 Bet I never find another 2GB DDR3 ECC stick that cheap though...
As well as the impressive unlock ratio and overclockability, AM3 cpus also undervolt well, significantly reducing power consumption at load (handy when you're watching a lot fo streaming flash video and had issues with the GPU-accelerated Flash 10.1b!). I must recheck the power consumption of my HTPC now I've got a low power SATA drive in there instead of the old IDE one...
good work!
Well I disassembled the system as it's a bit too overkill for my parents. I'm gonna keep the 4GB RAM for myself most likely for the future. I'm keeping the CPU too. However, now I have a board left and I don't wanna just return it to Ebuyer (not sure I can anyway - although I haven't opened any of the packaging) yet putting it up on fleabay requires effort. Down by £50 too, I'll stick it up on fleabay I guess and see if anyone buys it for £50 and perhaps I can get my money back haha.
A sempy 140 on a 785G mobo is overkill? I mean, 4GB ram is overkill, sure, but the sempy and mobo sound spot on to me...!
Well thinking back to it, £50 is more than I'm prepared to pay haha. I'm very very stingy when it comes to spending money. I guess I just wanted to see if core unlocking actually worked. Besides, my parents are saying I've just wasted my money as they don't need a new system (they seem to complain a lot when the system lags though - at least they noticed a speed increase when I upgraded the RAM to 1GB and the CPU to a 3ghz HT one)
