Nope 4ghz isn't doable even with 1.44Vcore! And this is with low vdroop. I'm on 3.92 atm with a 1520mhz cas6 memory config. I haven't primed this yet but I'll do so later tonight. Would it be better for me to go 200x19 and 1600 memory? I gues the extra 120mhz on the CPU help more than 80mhz on the RAM.
I don't really know what to suggest becuase ive not had a proppa crack at it my self, i got windows to boot @4Ghz (cant remember voltages) but it would BSOD straight away - ive got an extra CPU & RAM raiot to play with than you though, in respect to that extra 120mhz i dont think youll notice any difference performance wise once your clocking past 3.2Ghz.Originally Posted by nibbler

I'm trying 190 x 20 now. There's something about 4ghz or a 200bclock it doesn't like. Won't even do 3.6ghz with 200 bclock... aparently lynnfield overclocks better with an odd multi, could be true.
3.8 would be nice enough... and also, the vdroop thing just seems to overvolt the cpu, it was running at 1.45v which I'm not too happy about seeing as I told it to do 1.4...
If you have low vdroop basically it supplies an constant voltage with very little flux, thats why it wont drop below what you selected or may run slightly higher.

It seems to be best with highvdroop on ironically, which means it droops down to 1.352v under load. But is 15C cooler. At lowvdroop it went up to 1.47v which is just too much. Vcore in bios set to 1.425. This is at 3.999 ghz btw, 19x multi and 210 bclock. Annoying that it never quite reaches 4

cpu-z is what I'm using to say what vcore is. At 0% load its about 1.42-1.44 and under load its 1.35-1.38. But it's stable, it's 4ghz and its 1680 cas 7

Isn't it logical that it drops when it is under strain? I put vdroop on high btw.
Voltage should increase/sustain when the CPU is under strain as it needs more 'juice' - thats why you increase vCore voltage when OC'ing otherwise your cpu wouldn't be able to hit the higher frequencies on the lower voltage intended for lower speeds.
