This has been the norm for Sudhian for the last year, it will have weeks of downtime and then reappear. I use it myself, especially with SX38P2 Pro modding to fit the newer nVidia cards in there. Currently I am on an 8800GTS which just about fits in there xD

I need to mod it yet, I was following a thread on Sudhian where someone mentioned they had the nVidia 285GTX in the SX38P2 with a mobo mod and a bit of hacking on the cooling housing of the card itself. To fit anything bigger than a 8800GTS in there you need to hack the 6 pin connector off the mobo, re-fit it at a 90 degree angle and resolder to the motherboard. As you say though the site is up and down like a yoyo and I never actually saw the final write up :/
Tbh though most games I play don't make the 8800GTS struggle so I reckon I could get another 2 years out of it and then I will look at a i7/9 setup shuttle and start from scratch

yeah same, i just ordered the eco bus powered 9800GT which should play most games no probs, Shuttle should be introducing the new 'J' series this month so be interesting to see what's added and how much they come in.... BIGGER psu throughout the range and more internal SATA ports i hope

So what are you using all the internal SATA ports on?
I am assuming you have around 6 internal sata ports? From memory I think I have 4 in mine and I think I am only using one with the HD.

I have 4 in total but only two internal SSD for my OS and then a data drive, leaving me with the current issue, i purchased a PCI internal SATA card, however it seems to take the 'number 1' spot and my SSD needs to be plugged into it, it adds 10 seconds on to the bootup time and the SSD feels slower when i do that, i know i am properly being anal but it bugs me to hell

Then I would definitely go down the slimline DVD writer route then you can just connect it when you need it Also saves the space in the case so you should get a bit of a better airflow through if the design is anything like the SX38

Grey M@a you don't need to go as far as the mod on sudhian forum to use a large graphic card in a shuttle. The idea of hacking anything on the mobo seems extreme to me when there are easier ways to do it..
I have used a 4pin 12v p 4 extension cable brought from Maplin to fit a 260GTX in a shuttle Sp352Pro.
Its far safer to hack the extension cable than the one soldered onto the mobo.
Hope this helps.

Yeah I was looking at that option to, half the issue is the housing on the cards and the 6 pin connector location on the motherboard, it sits right in line with the PCI slot so any bigger cards and up hitting the 6 pin connector.
As I only really play EVE Online, Modern Warfare 2, Blood Bowl and Dragon Age, the card I have now barely breaks a sweat so I think I could probably hold off till I need a new system in a few years.

i hope the graphics cards start to come down in power with this eco movement, and also in size, as shuttles just seem to be getting bigger! what PSU do you have in your shuttle?

An 8800GTS 512MB fitted fine in my SD37P2. TBH,the P2 is my favourite Shuttle SFF design and I am quite sad that they have stopped using the design. The H7 simply does not have enough room IMHO. With the P2 series you could have three hard disks and a full sized DVD rewriter if you wanted.
Too true.
