No reason not toNot all motherboards will support downward voltage adjustments, which is frankly a PITA. So if you're buying components specifically to undervolt, make sure you check the manufacturer's website careful to ensure that it *does* support it.
My big frustration is that I can't undervolt the IGP on my motherboard! I reckon I could cut a few extra watts if I could...

I'd have to dig back through the ancient threads, but based on my adventures underclocking on an ASUS 785G EVO motherboard someone here built a similar machine with an MSI board, and it didn't support downward voltage adjustment! I can probably dig the thread out with a bit of searching: I've linked to it a couple of times recently in power draw related threads...Huh, didn't know that. I guess I'm lucky

I encourage everyone to undervolt and tell us (or me, but I see I'm not the only one interested in that, thankfully), especially the folding folk who don't overclock - pay less for electricity/save the planet/whatever's your cup of tea
My CPU is quite good when it comes to undervolting, runs turbo boost stable at around 1.1v with high v droop as well

Well, if we're after new examples I'll be instaling a pico in my HTPC in the next day or two (well, an FSP equivalent anyway). I'll be running load tests at 1.04V first, before I decide if I'm going to risk loading the 90W PSU up with stock volts
After all that talking about really fancying a Pico in the Aria, I was kinda sad when the old Antec PSU blew, but also kinda glad that it gave me an excuse to get the debit card out. PSU's arrived at work today (along with a nice look FSP 19V 90W power brick and a tube of AS5 to take the order over £50!) and is *unbelievably* small - I really hadn't realised just how tiny these things were - I'll do some pics when I fit it and post some new power draw figures to compare to the last lot!

I'll give it a go but with a PWM fan it's not so easy to get relative temps. not sure how to set it to auto (actually thats the setting in the bios). HWMonitor pro does contain some sort of power meter; any other programs out there?
If you mean power in terms of wattage, HWmonitor always comes up with 95W on mine no matter the voltage and only increases/decreases with BCLK changes.

I know this sounds stupid but does undervolting or underclocking void warranty ? Personally I dont think it does because your not really pushing it ur making it easier for cpu maybe processor ompanies should give extended warrantiesanyway but I cant find anything to confirm that it does not void warranty

Well other than a BSOD, i don't think undervolting is detrimental to a chips health so i see no reason why it would void the warranty.

I don't fret about that - I just go registering both the temperature and the speed of fan, since I'm interested in lowering both temps and noise. Usually both drop a bit
About the warranty - I suppose anything other than running the CPU bone-stock (in any circumstances other than those it comes with) would void the warranty, but it's not that this thing should cause any harm (I hope).

Installed my FSP PSU in my M4A785TD-M EVO and it won't POSTIf I pull the 12V ATX connector out the mobo will power on & fans spin but (obviously) no post: if I plug the 12V ATX connector in the board starts powering up then immediately goes back into standby and has to be powered down to start up again!!!
Grrr. Any ideas? I'm not sure if it's the PSU having too much load put on the 12V rail and kicking in the over-current protection, or if the motherboard is somehow powering itself down. But flip it! This thing's supposed to put out 5A on the 12V rail: and I really don't believe my PC is pulling more than 60W with an undervolted 45W CPU. Even with the grotty Q-TEC it doesn't pull much more than 80W from the wall, and I'll eat my hat if the Q-TEC is 75% efficient at that kind of power draw...
Too much load on the 3.3/5v lines ?
