My motherboard will no longer boot with the following setup:
Q6600 SCALR
8GB DDR2 800MHz (4x2GB)
Biostar T-Power I45 motherboard
EVGA 9800GTX+ SSC
Antec NeoPower 550W modular PSU
It worked fine for nearly a year. Haven't as much as opened the lid in months. The CPU temp LCD on the motherboard cycles through some boot codes and gets stuck on 9A. Google tells me this is Shadow ROM? It then resets a few times before giving up.
The motherboard works fine with a another PCI-E graphics card! Also the graphics card works fine in another system! WTF?
The only thing I can think of then is the PSU. I have tried plugging the cable into a different block on the rail, tried another PCI-E connector and even tried a molex to PCI-E adapter. Makes no difference - won't post past 9A, whatever the hell that means.
Biostar emailed me finally today with the helpful advice: try removing everything from the motherboard, including the CPU. Really I want to avoid removing the CPU to avoid the heartache of reinstalling the heatsink/fan. I have also tried the obvious things: disconnect everything not necessary for boot, re-seat the RAM, reset the BIOS.
Any advice? As far as I can see both my graphics card and motherboard work fine, just not together. I guess the fundamental thing tying them together therefore is the PSU...
