They're relatively hard to get hold of now, do you need a Plextor for some specific reason?

Both Liteon and Sony are very good from what I know and I own a model from each of them, an Optiarc 7240S and a Liteon iHAS524 and could recommend either. I also own an LG but it's a little noisy. Is there a reason you avoid their drives at all?
I've only had success with Plextor in the past or Panasonic in recent years.
I really don't think you can go far wrong with them these days. There isn't really a lot of innovation in that market these days, they all seem much the same now.
I used to swear by Plextor for audio ripping, but with accurate ripping tools now, I don't think it's really much of an issue. I use dbPoweramp with AccurateRip.
mine [the plextor reader] started playing up and I wacked in a liteon ide drive.
seems to work just aswell.
immer in der Scheiße, ist es nur die Tiefe, die sich verändert.
