    better (read:quiet) fan

    hey
    the fan in my pc is almost industrially loud, often leads to my pc overheating, and i would like a replacement as a result.
    can anyone recommend a quieter alternative that gets the job done but isnt too expensive?

    Well if your computer overheats and the fan is noisy - it's probably nackered. They tend to get louder if the bearings wear out.
    PHP Code:
    $s = new signature();
    $s->sarcasm()->intellect()->font('Courier New')->display();

    Zalman Flower for quietness: http://www.aria.co.uk/ProductsList.a...l-Cu+OEM+Skt+A. Quiet, even on maximum, and can cool my 1800+ overclocked pretty well (can't remember temperatures, definately below 50C under stress)

    Volcanoes are supposed to be pretty good as well, but I can only testify about the Zalman Flower.

    hey sorry to bring back a dead thread but i totally forgot i started this and need the info

    my fan is loud (FYI i'm not too sure how many types of fans there are so i may have used the wrong term --heatsink?, but this one is attatched to processor), but has always been- the day i turned this machine on it was the same as it is now. maybe it's my case, as mike has put to me before, but i would really like to eliminate the sound as its quite irritating to be able to hear it faintly all the way down the stairs.
