almost exactly £3k for the system on the left but I had to buy everything inc speakers, keyboard, mouse, monitor etc
£1399 on my laptop which is now 3 years old, bearing in mind its still capable of playing games like mafia 2 with some high settings and metro 2033, all in all a good purchase.
i7 920 with UD5 and 6Gb Ram - £568
Antec 300 and 750w True - £145
Pioneer DVD - £18
Hitachi HDD - ~£50 (can't find receipt)
LG 24" - £130
5870 - £318.
Total about £1230 !
But I spent about double that on the previous box three years previously, and I expect this to last at least that long. I may add a CF 5870 later though, or an SSD.
Society's to blame,
Or possibly Atari.
I've plonked myself in the £800 - £1000 bracket, although it's maybe not spot on...:
Initial Build:
January 2004
Case: part of Deluxworld M9512 4-1 Pack - ~ £20
January 2008
ASUS P5N32-E SLI - £123
Q6600 - £168
OCZ Platinum 2x2GB DDR2-800 - £70
ASUS 8800GTX - £276
DVD-RW - £17
2009 - 2010 from Hexus
750GB Seagate HDD - £40
Corsair TX750W - £55
Total: £769 which represents pretty much exactly what's in my case at the minute - or at least, what was in my case up to this evening, before I took stuff out to get ready for:
Mad watercooling project purchases:
GPU & motherboard water blocks, second 8800GTX with waterblock and PA120.3 rad: £140
CPU Block: £27.50
Pump: £20
Tubes and Barbs: £40
Total: £227.50 which brings it to almost exactly £1000. However, I've got some odds and ends still to buy for the project (a few fans and a few connectors for the loop) which will just push the total over £1000: but of course this lot isn't in my case yet, so I'm not sure it really counts
EDIT: oooh, are we including monitors as well? If so I need to add £98 to mine for my lovely 20" IBM CRT monitor. keyboard and mouse I've had for years - can't remember where they came from, and my speakers were given to me by my step-dad: they with his new PC a few years back and he didn't want them!
Anyway, depending how you look at it, it's either just under £800 or just over £1000, so £800 to £1000 seems perfectly reasonable to me
Of course, if the question was how much I'd spent on all the PCs in my house, that would be a significantly different matter...

Ooh this is tough. Do I include the two 24" Dells, or just the desktop itself?
Probably about £700 for the desktop itself.
Then if you take the total spend on the equipment I use when I'm at home it gets very very scary. I prefer not to think about that (see the project log for details).
i didnt add my dell 24" or the attached toys, if the wife see's this im dead !
