Re: Which case, sub £50 ?

Oooh, +1 to the Sonata Proto: very nice cases. The older version used to have a fantastic air guide that ducted air from floor level at the back (where it should theoretically be cooler) pushing it into the case above the CPU and where a graphics card would typically sit. In fact, a lot of Antec's cases seem to have been slowly downgraded over the last 5 - 10 years. Still good cases, but not as good value as they used to be...

I went for the HAF 912 Plus for £43.19 on Scans Today Only. The case looks solidly built and has plenty of potential for future upgrades (such as SSD). A high end case for under £44 isn't bad if you ask me, considering it is going for £60+ on Novatech and Ebuyer.

Don't forget Ebay - you may find an upgrader who wants to sell a perfectly good quality case for £50 or less.

Re: Which case, sub £50 ?

I'm about to buy basically the exact same system as you, OP, and the case I'm getting is:

Coolermaster Elite 370, Black, Mid Tower Case w/o PSU

If you check Scan's today only deals, it's £26.39. Fantastic value - I've checked out some reviews and seems to be a fairly decent case too, though you will need to buy a couple of extra fans (at about £5 a pop though, you're still looking at being £10 under your budget).

I love the way it looks too, which is important to me... I'm not into big hot rod neon cases that light up my bedroom while I'm trying to sleep... if that's your thing though, you probably will want to be getting something else!

That's one of the better ones of the current new crop of elite cases from coolermaster, other than than look back at the older 330

While the antec 300 is nice it's now £50 which is too much money for what it is esp with the HAF 912 at the same cost.

The HAF 912 is big, not extra tall or long but wide, at 230mm wide that's a lot of internal space especially good for running cables and hiding them behind the motherboard tray where there's an inch gap between the tray and side panel.
Big issue will be the looks and red led fan in the front.

EDIT: Coming down to the £20-30 range, then the CM elite 370 or 330, NZXT evo beta, casecom K5-9388 or KM-6788

Can also highly recommend the NZXT Beta Evo, its what i run my home media server in, lovely case for the money, build quality is excellent, it punches well above its weight.

Cooler Master 690 II lite in the Today Only section. I got one last month too. Great case.

Re: Which case, sub £50 ?

I got my CM 370 Elite. It feels a little flimsy, and it's very light, but for £30 you can't really complain. It has a lot of space for extra fans, looks classy and comes with all the trimmings. Good case for £30, for sure.
