I was just wondering if anyone knew what speeds AMD are releasing the 939 Athlon 64's at?

So the lowest model is a 3500+.
Basically i just want to find out the cheapest way into the Athlon64 S939 ballgame
Think i'll be waiting a few months yet tho...

Yeh definitely. I mean socket 939 should be around for a couple of CPU generations now, including the introduction of the duel core cpus. I just want to get in with something as cheap as poss, which will still kick my system in the bottom! Then I will be able to keep upgrading for hopefully the next 2 years.
Do you know when are AMD moving to the 90nm process?

A good idea would be to wait for 64-bit to really hit the fan, it'll be cheaper and more useful by then.
Will 64-bit paint be included?
lol - I've been adding these to the works website today - how scary's that...
I want a nice new FX-53 on the socket 939 but we can all dream lol
I HIGHLY doubt 939 will be used for dual core cpus. They will likely need a whole new socket.Originally Posted by iMc
well whatever happens i hope they stay with 939 for a good 2 years. they will just upset consumers if they keep changing every 9 months.

939 will still be there, as will 754. They will just have something newer. I don't see the need to delay progress. I plan on sticking with 754 for a good while.
in your opinion is it worth getting Althon 64 754 now or waiting till the 939 stuff comes down in price?

Well the fastest stock socket 754 will be the 3700+, 939 will have a longer life at the top end, but currently the performance difference really isn't there. 939 A64s (non-fx) are less than 5% faster overall comapaired to socket 754 chips of the same MHz. At this moment 754 is a better deal in my opinion, upgrading both cpu and motherbaord in the future is not that much more of a hassle as just upgrading the cpu, and everything else is compatable. Motherbaords tend to be far cheaper than midrange or highend cpus.
I'll make up my mind for sure in a few days. I ordered a 1.2v mobile Athlon 64 2800+ wensday, if it overclock as well as I hope, I'll stay 754 for a good while as thats what the mobile chips will stay.
