That should be fine, good price. But to ensure 100% stable no error producing ram get the Special Reserve RAM. Its around the same price and guaranteed to run at 66mhz if required.

    www.ukram.com

Edit: Wow I didn't check the prices, sky high! Buy from somwhere else, Im pretty sure the RAM you chose will be fine. You could always go down to PC world or you local PC shop where they will test if the RAM is compatible.

    Exclamation

Don't go THAT cheap! Read the reviews...there are loads of negative ones!

    Get this:
    http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/produ...duct_uid=46428

256Mb Crucial SD133. (doesn't matter about 133 - it will just run at the speed to match your system - this will give you "headroom").

Positive reviews, realistic but good price.

    Trust me, it's worth it...

any old SD RAM will work if its PC133 as there backwards compatible to PC100 and PC66 speeds

personally iev always opted for cheapo ram and never had a problem, but people swear by quality ram, so for the best compromise of quality and price, another vote for crucial 256 pc133

I'm only going cheap because it's an old computer, and probably won't be around for a great length of time. If I got something expensive, and got rid of the computer next year, then I'd have wasted more money that if I'd have done it cheap. It may not be as good quality, but since it's just an old PC (and not mine!) then I'm not too bothered so long as it works.

If you get the ebuyer value ram there is a high chance that it wont work. At all.

I've nailed a motherboard with cheap ram before, if I remember rightly it was Ebuyer value ram. All it did was got very hot and nail the chipset, it was a random motherboard I had lying around I thought I might build into a PC, but it definatly worked with crucial ram I borrowed from another PC before. If it's not your PC ask your friend whether they are happy to take the risk and if they are it was their choice. Personally I never ever by anything but branded memorey now, nothing flashy just someone like Crucial/Corsair/Samsung/Kingston.

By "nail" - do you mean "break"?

What about if I get some memory of ebay - would that be any better?

not sure about ebay.. you'll have more comeback if you order it from a shop... but, although its not that likely, the motherboard may not like the 256mb sticks of ram (i had an old p1 machine which could only take 128mb sticks), so that may be something to look out for also.. any chance of opening up the pc and giving us the name (or codes) off the motherboard so we can be 100% sure you wont be wasting your money..

Crucial is the place to go. Very good RAM if you don't want to overclock, good prices, fast delivery and excellent customer support.
