What make HD's do you use?

Good day all, time for another poll, this time a multi select...

What make HD's do you use and why?

    I'll start..

    In my main system I have 2 x 36GB Raptors in RAID 0 and a seperate WD2000JB 200GB, my other rigs I have a WD1200JB in each.

I use them because they are quick and (mainly) because of the 3 year warranty that comes as standard.

Also a few years back I used to use IBM Deathstars 75GXP and 60GXP series, out of 13 I got for me and my mates 11 went back at least once

Western Digital... Very reliable in my experience (have used loads at work as well as having 2 80GB SE's at home) and good warranties. Only problems I've had are 2 DOA 36GB Raptors which I'm 99.99% sure was down to the supplier's packing monkeys...

Seagate in my main computer, due to its virtually silent operation.

Just build a new system for someone else and the Seagate SATA drive I put in was actually quite noisy when seeking (still silent when idle though) so I'll probably swap to Samsung for my next one.

123.5GB IBM Deathstar and a 200GB WD in my Main rig and I recently sold my second rig that had a 60GB Maxtor in it. Will be buying WD from now on as its the one thats pleased me the most with the least mount of problems =)

Yeah, i found that with my Seagate SATA.

Most machines I've had have had Seagates I tend to get them mostly. I have moved more over to W.D. now after hearing so many good things about them.

a pair of wdse's in the server - one is old, and he other was to match it in RAID 1.

other than that, samsung all the way - quiet, fast, cool-running, 3-year warranty. have 2 in the server, 1 in the desktop, and gave one to the girlfriend for her birthday

Am using a WD caviar SE 7200rpm 8mb cache.
    Reasons were
Price. was a good deal only a little extra over standard
    Performance. Tis quick
Warranty. 3 years (hopefully shows faith in the build quality)

I was amazed at the temp of my old deathstar was damn hot, so have fitted a 80mm fan filters in front of the drive, stays well cool.

All of the above apart from Exelsor.

My main machine runs a 120Gb Samsung SpinPoint - simple fact is apart from the raptor its the fastest drive on the market (apart from SCSI etc.) and its also one of the quietest - I don't mind paying the premium for the lower noise, lol. Also funny enough it can out write, read, find any other 7,200rpm SATA drive and it runs happliy on IDE

Pretty much all WD here. Mainly because they are cheap with good performance although they are noisy .
Three WD Caviar SE 80GB 8MB cache drives in my main rig.
One WD Caviar SE 40GB in my parents machine.
Various Seagates and Maxtors in older systems.
