I'd save at least a grand just for those bits tbh...not convinced the 3800 will fall that quickly either, so you might want to save even more, unless you're prepared to go for a slower processor on the same socket...

These are only very slightly educated guesses as well.
I agree. £1000 should be the target. Don't forget your PSU which will have to be first rate to handle a rig like this. You would save £150 if you went for the 3500 - which is only marginally less powerful than the 3800. Also will your current case support such a rig - eg size , sufficient fans to keep the rig cool etc.,

PSU as it says in my sig is a Tagan 480W, I thought that would be powerful enough?
I decided I would go for a 3500, its much cheaper and couldn't I clock it farther? (I did hear about them not liking o/cing because of the built in memory controller) Is that still an issue with Socket 939?
And yes, my case should support it, me hopes, its a Chieftec Aluminium Dragon, Midi tower but it is bigger than most usual midi towers I think, I would think it will fit in.
    And welcome to Hexus!
Cheers for the help guys, much appreciated

And im the guy who cant wait and has gone for a skt 754 upgrade but im nearly finished now so i cant be bothered with saving again. hopefully all that technology ur talkin about will have matured a bit by next summer when i upgrade again. But i still gotta get me some ram hopefuly a gb of XL or EB

But tbh ur upgrade doesnt sound ne more expensive than mine was so it will be worth it N1 m8y.

There are currently 3 processors for socket 939. The FX-53, 3800+ and 3500+. They all cost ALOT.
