    Athlon 64 Rig

I'm planning on upgrading my current system to A64 sometime this summer:
Athlon 64 3800+ (or something around that) Socket 939
1GB Corsair TwinX (whatever speed is used with an A64)
PCI-Express x800 Pro or XT PE
    Motherboard to house it all.
Would anyone be able to give me an estimate of what that will cost in August/September?
At the moment I have £350 but i'm still saving so i'd like to know how much I'd have to save.
    Cheers

guessing the CPU will be around £300 by then...certainly not less, looking at current prices. RAM would be around £200, possibly a bit less (for pc3200) , PCI-E X800XT...maybe £350 more, £300 minimum I reckon...guess at £100ish for a mobo...

I'd save at least a grand just for those bits tbh...not convinced the 3800 will fall that quickly either, so you might want to save even more, unless you're prepared to go for a slower processor on the same socket...

These are only very slightly educated guesses as well.

the 3500s are currently £360ish...I still reckon you'll be paying at minimum £250 for them in Sep.

I am holding back until Jan / Feb when nForce4 will be available in large volumes and a choice of manufacturers, it's going to be a killa chipset.

similarly here, having read about the features...hopefully it'll become as good a platform as n-force 2 has been for Socket A.

Im not to fussed about PCI-E atm as it doenst show any real performance increase at the moment, come next spring when I upgrade my cpu and vid next then possably, for the mo though Im just trying to get my hands on a S939 Shuttle, getting info on it seems harder than getting blood from a stone

At first it won't have any diff. to AGP but it will slowly take over.
I'm seriously considering whether to get it by the end of summer or wait awhile until Christmas maybe, hopefully it would be cheaper, maybe sometime like October/November.
A S939 Shuttle is gonne be sweet, I wonder if an SLI version will be available.....
