Seagate Warranties

Well I'm happy with this press release I've just noticed on the Seagate website ;

5 year warranty on their drives.

I've only got 1 thing to say to seagate now and that is below ;

Nice move, might just get me to move from my tried and trusted Samsung p80

These days that is wat swing my choice, Samsung offed 3years on there hdds and so they got my business.

I've just found out that this is including drives bought since June 1 2004

Look's like my serial ata's are all covered now by a 5 year warranty.

I think im going to switch from Maxtor to them now.

agreed this is always what swings my decision, I stopped buying maxtors when they got rid of thier three year, have been building stuff for friends with Wester Digi's in but I now decided that seagate will get my business, anyone who can offer that much faith in thier own products is worth the money imo.

I've had a few seagate drives in the past and their reliablity has been superb

They are usually of excellent build and can withstand even me building a system with them so they must be good drives for seagate to have faith in their build and technical expertise.

Any bets on the other manufacturers following suit soon? If they do, its going to be a win/win situation for the end user

I tend to buy Seagate hard drives, and they have never failed on me. That's good news since I got my latest Barracuda at the end of June!

Excellent news, might be using those instead of WD drives (if not buying Raptors that is).

Balls this only applies ot drives bought from the 1st of june , and i got mine on 27 may....... balls balls..... so how long is my warranty? 1year? 3 years??
