    shuttle display problem! urgent!

Hi, I recently bought a shuttle SB61G2 v3 and I really like it, but I'm having a bit of a problem. Basically when I had the whole system setup and ready to be powered on, I put the VGA cable connector into the VGA port on the back of the XPC and everything else (mouse, keyboard, etc). I powered it on, seemed fine, but nothing at all showed up on the screen. The monitor is not bad, I tested it on another computer and it worked fine. I tried putting an nvidia geforce2 mx400 64mb PCI card in the XPC and it still displayed nothing on the screen. What could be the problem? If anyone could PLEASE help me out that would be great.

Edit: Just saw the problem had been fixed! Glad it's all sorted

    Hi zim

If you've tried both the onboard graphics and an add-in card, and you're sure the monitor is fine, then maybe there is a fault with the system. You may want to try reseting the CMOS (check the Shuttle manual on how to do this) which will reset your motherboard's BIOS to the defaults (and thus eliminate any rogue settings). I doubt this will actually solve anything, but you never know (note that if you had made any BIOS changes, these will be lost).

Other than that, I'm not really sure what it could be. Does the system itself look like it's booting (to the lights on the front come on etc.)?

Sorry I can't be of more help

P.S. It could just be that the system is faulty, which sadly happens every now and then, in which case your supplier should usually offer a replacement.

God, I feel so dumb I actually fixed the problem and it was all because the RAM wasn't fitting properly (the cutout wasn't fiting around the notch for some reason). I finally got it to fit somehow and now the monitor is displaying properly. This shuttle is really nice, I can't believe how quiet it is with the fans on low. Just out of curiosity, why would the monitor not display anything if the RAM isn't in properly?

Usually computers will refuse to boot when certain key hardware (in your case, the RAM) is missing or faulty. As the RAM was not seated properly, this is most likely what was happening, and thus no picture.

    Glad it's all sorted
