I think their is something seriously wrong with the pc the HDD performance is sooo slow adding any files to windows ie updating direct X takes like 5 mins ! its was instaneous before and also extracting a 10 meg zip files takes forever ?
Is it the SATA driver ?
I might go low level format it and try again ! Sigh !

the Amd 64 pc is like 4 - 6 times slower installing windows program then anything else.

Is it a VIA chipset on that board btw?
If so, go download the hyperion 4-in-1 drivers, it should fix the slow drive performance..

I reinstalled on the Promise Controller and all seems ok ! now windows is it usual zippy self.
sigh !
oh well, those promise controllers can be a bit tempramental though..
