    Another stupid question!

I am using mbm5, It tells me the cpu temp, the case temp, and the PWM..

    • So, my question is What does PWM stand for?
    • Also how does it know my case temp?

I am wondering because my PWM is at 57 C! And yes, I googled first! And I also visited there fourm! There search feature is down....
Edit: Also, Prime95 wont stress test both threads on my P4! Is there any other program to use?

It nows your case temp because there should be a sensor on the motherboard, and yes, it is a stupid question

i think pwm is cause some boards have a temp sensor on the voltage reg bits and if im right you can expect it to be hot!

as for prime 95 open 1 copy as normal and then open a second copy from a shortcut as here "C:\Program Files\Prime95\Prime95.exe" -A1" (basically just add the A1 switch and voila you have 2 copies of prime 95 to stress the cpu

Iirc pwm is voltage regulation but not normal voltage regulation. To regulate the voltage it just flips the on and off switch many times a second which varies the voltage.

Or perhaps its mis-reading information, at 73'c things should be starting to melt

motherboard monitor talks to the bios via Windows.

Bios's are notorious for having the wrong readings for temps and voltages. You should use it like a petrol gauge in an old classic car.

Its not ACCURATE but it IS CONSISTENT. Which means that you can use it compare your own PC's temps from day to day and task to task, but not with other PC's.

If it locks up from overheating try to suss what temp it does it at on YOUR OWN PC and use that info. But dont try to compare it to another one....

    it wont work
