It would seem that ATi has quite a few disgruntled users - failing that, there are a LOT of people who would like to see the ATi Linux driver situation improve.
I wonder how ATi will respond?

Why do you keep posting Hardware related threads in the general discussion forum?
Besides, online petitions like this achieve *nothing*

ATi should take notice of this, as they say consumers voices are always heard
On a related note - a friend of mine who works for a PC magazine and deals with ATi all the time actually got someone there to acknowledge that their drivers are pants for Open GL and Unix support so hopefully they are taking note and actually trying to do something to correct this.
Well yeah, I imagine that they are well aware how poor their linux drivers are, but realistically, how big is the linux market at the moment to them?
Linux driver development would detract from their main market at the moment, and seeing as they're re-developing the opengl driver for windows, I'm sure that it could/would form the basis of any new linux driver, especially as they're starting to push FireGL to the industry once again..
As I said earlier, these online petitions never make any impact on corporate strategy, they're far too easily faked and falsly inflated, and just about everyone ignores them.
If you want to really make an impact vote with your feet and let ATi know direct why you're not purchasing their products, that's the only way any corporation like that actually listens.
Hexus has a questions and answers section of the forums where David and co can use their industry connections to get real answers and put honest opinions across, you're far more likely to get a definitive answer that way than with some anonymous petition list..

Listen to Stoo, for he is wise.
The only way to send a message the company is to stop buying their products and tell them why. Petitions mean nothing - if you continue to buy their products then you're effectively saying "There's no point fixing this, because I'm going to give you my cash anyway". Companies aren't charities, they'll only do something if it makes economic sense.
Stoo, you make a good point. However, it took me 30 seconds to sign that petition - not exactly much effort!
You're right, ATi probably won't take any notice of it. However, it spreads awareness - people realise just how many others share their problems and they start doing what we're doing here: discussing how we can get the message across to "encourage" ATi to improve their drivers.
Luckily I've got the hang of installing fglrx by now (not done it for a couple of months though now,) so I'm content with ATi. However, my next purchase will use driver quality as a factor.
Is it really going to increase awareness though? Anyone interested in the subject is going to know about the issue anyway..

But hexus readers are going to be some of the most likely to know about the performance level anyway..
