    8rda+ & xp2500 overheating?

well last week i got a nice shiney new 6800gt..

pulled out the old 9700pro and popped the new 6800gt in.
reformat, reinstall later everything was running smothly.

now after about 30mins of gaming the game (any game) crashes back to desktop.

    setup:

    epox 8rda+ (latest bios)
    2x 512mb pc3200 11,3,3,2.5
    xp2500 @11.5x200fsb @1.775w
    slk800a + 80mm fan
    420w TT truepower psu
    geforce 6800gt (66.00 forceware)

    temps
    sys: 32.c
    cpu: 47.c

ive tried lower the xp2500 overclocking to defaults, 1.5w @1800mhz.

    it still crashed.

    is it overheating?

is the increased graphics card size killing my airflow?

    dodgy graphics card drivers?

ive stipped the pc down cleaned it all and put it back together.

    any ideas people

It sounds like something is overheating.Normally if it crashes to desktop for me I slacken off my o/c on my gfx card and that sorts it out.Far cry was a killer that way.
Try and make sure your molex to your gfx card is first on that line of molexs to make sure your gfx card juice isn't getting pulled.

it will be voltage fluctuations or overheating, as the dude is saying above make sure the gfx card is first item on the power cables. Leave the side of your case open and stick a desk fan pointing into it - this will test if it is overheating. failing that use the official drivers of the gfx card manufacturer that came with the card.

    cheers,
ive tried no overclocking at all on the gfx and cpu and it still does it.

it does appear like a heat problem, will try case side off tonight.

as far as i can remember it has its own molex strand, (psu has 4).

looking at some forums there seems to be some probs with forceware 66.00 & 61.77 and 6800gt's.

    going to try 65.37 tonight.

also go into your bios and write down the settings you have, then set them to optimised defaults, i used to have an issue with my 4600 that when i enabled certain RAM options / memory read write optimisations the card would freeze or not boot.

well i tried the latest drivers... and i managed 1 hour playing with no crashes.
    up the overclocking and voltage.
so its back at 2.2ghz @1.75v

and it ran fine for another hours gaming... i need to do some more testing but it seems fine.
