    Strange CPU Test Results.

Right, my CPU (939 socket 3500+) broke, accoridng to the error message on my Asus A8V Deluxe, anyway.

So, I sent it to David, who kindly offered to test it for me, before I RMA it, to MicroDirect.

Anyway, David has now tested it and the results are it will POST in a board with the NF3 chipset, but not VIA boards.

Has anyone had anything like this before?

I'm a bit worried about RMA'ing it to MicroDirect you see, and them testing it, it works for them, and they return it, charge me, and I'm still without a working CPU.

Sounds like there's something broken in the HT link to the chipset; something that causes Via boards to choke and not Nforce boards?

    Rich :¬)

A covering letter to MicroDirect should sort it, I just don't want a situation where, because the CPU is not a smoking wreck, and might work sometimes, for some people in some set-ups, they return it as working, and I have to return it as broken, etc, etc.

Some MicroDirect bloke might stick it in an NForce3 rig, POST and return, leaving me with no CPU and the headache of sorting it out.
