Howling gale from my Iwill ZMAXdp

I've just received my ZMAXdp and I have it running with dual opteron 246 processors.

It's been running for a week now and despite all the BIOS tweaks and HWDoctor settings I can find, I can't get the fan speeds to reduce from what sounds like a hairdryer at full pelt.

On the box it says "Quiet Operation with Silence Cooling System" - I have to disagree.

Anybody else had this problem yet?

Well, you do have not one, but two, tiny (but mighty) furnaces inside a small box...

Naa, opterons run very cool. Mine only ever gets to 42C overclocked & under load (with a zallman cooler).

    Nice one!

This utility has done the trick - just need to study it in more detail now.

Thanks 0iD for the speedy response.

Resolving the Iwill ZMAXdp howling gale issue

Just a little update for anyone else with these PCs.

I tried SpeedFan which is an excellant utility. There were a number of configuration issues which with the help of Alfredo, the author and a recent Beta, I managed to resolve.

However, this morning I've received some advice from Iwill support who recommended checking the fan connector wiring. As shipped, the ZMAXdp comes with one of the fans plugged into connector CN12. This should be plugged into CN10 for an instant return to silent running from boot-up!

Unfortunately, this does not appear to be an isolated incident as I have a number of these PCs all mis-configured identically.
