Try pressing reset on the base and then on the underside of the mouse

    Another vote for the ratpadzGS.
I'm using it with my mx700 keyboard at the moment and its served me strong in all 3d shooters. I've never really felt the urge to get a mx1000 myself, as my mx700 ratpadz combo works fine for me.

However after months of heavy day of defeat, quake 3 and strategy game thrashing, the centre of it is slightly wearing down. i may be in need of a new one soon!

It should work (at least move!) without the logitech drivers, so don't install them if you don't want to.
Might be a duff mouse you have.
But - just to check - have you charged it up, do the green battery level lights come on, have you pressed both reset buttons to create the link (and have you turned the mouse's power switch on!?!?)

fully charged, battery lights light up, pressed both reset buttons and sitched the mouse on and off, also tried it in tweo different USB ports and with the PS2 adapter and the think WILL NOT track up and down, just goes at diagonals lol

Its really annoying me, I might as well go back to my MX700.

Have you tried charging the battery? Sorry I couldn't resist!.

The so called bloatware allows you to customise the mouse including buttons to your own needs. I would recommend installing it as this will most likely tell you what the problem is. Hey it even gives you an MSN messenger pop up when the battery is low.

well, i love my icemat. Has to be one of the better bits of kit i've bought

I was thinking of going for the mx1000 to replace my aging intellimouse, but i wasnt sure how well the laser would track on a surface designed for standard opticals, if it'll be happy tho, my wallent will take another dent

nope still doesn't work, cba to setup the mx700 so I am using my ancient intellimouse 1.0 lol

Installed the drivers for the MX1000, even checked for IRQ conflicts, but still nothing, only thing left is to take it to work tomorrow and try it there, if it still don't work then its RMA time

    Hello
I've been using the same "3M Precise Mousing Surface" for a number of years and it is very good. Only 2mm thick so doesn't clutter the desk or mess games up if the mouse goes off the edge.
I was using and enjoying an MX700, But a few weeks ago got myself a Razer Diamondback rather than an MX1000 and I am so glad I've gone back to corded! I first thought that it was too light, but have just finished "Armed and Dangerous" after snapping it up for £4.98 last week and am really pleased with the mouse precision, speed and having no fatigue!
Anyone ever tried a glass chopping board (cheap in Robert Dyas)?
    Cheers
    snedger
