    Overclock X800PRO to XT

I'm aiming to over-clock my X800PRO levels of 475MHz VPU clock, 900MHz memory clock to the XT 500MHz VPU clock, 1GHz memory clock.(if these increases are possible) Before I turn my pc into a 1500 pound toaster what kit would you recommend I download to achieve the over-clocking, I heard ATI Tools was good? Also at these levels of overclock will the ref fan be upto the job? it does look the same as the one supplied with the XT anyway. Im not sure who actually manufactured my card (msi, leadtek etc) all I know is it has the minotour on it, I can't see any other indication of who made it, maybe it's an ATI own one, if they do there own?

Any advice before I start would be great
    cheers R.

First of all is your x800 pro the vivo model or just the plain x800 pro? Have a look at the numbers on your ram on the card.If they have 1.6 written on them then you have a good chance of reaching xtpe speeds with your ram.Your gpu is a different matter tho.I'd advise to get yourself a Artic cooler vga silencer. You will need a better cooler to compensate for all the extra heat you will get after the o/c.The rev 5 cooler even has a backplate to help cool your ram...Its a massive cooler tho!!
Check this article out..It's more for softmodding the x800 to a xtpe but its got the ram and gpu codes on.

Since you have a radeon I'd recomend atitool for o/cing your card. You can even control your fan speeds using that. You can keep a eye on your gpu temps as well in your sys tray which is very handy.
If you do overclock your gfx card try with one thing at a time.O/c your gpu first.Raise it's speed by a couple of mhz each time. Then run your benchies and tests for as long as you need to before (I do 3 hrs at least) you feel it's stable.Test your card is stable and doesnt crash or give you sparklies etc at the o/c speed. As soon as I see sparklies I drop my o/c back 10 mhz.Same with your ram speeds. But watch out for tearing.
Heat is a killer so ideally I'd recomend you change your cooler.
Let us know how you get on m8.Or if you have any more queries.
    Good Luck

You can try, but the success rate isn't great and it involves using conductive paint on the GPU

Unfortuneatley m8,to get the extra 4 pipes working would involve doing a hard-mod.This to me looks exremely hard.Even witha magnifying glass the 2 dots you have to join looked tiny.Thank god my x800 pro died and a long RMA later I got the vivo card as compen for waiting for a replacement so long.I personally wouldnt try the hard-mod.Itss not called hard-mod for nothing.Don't get down-hearted tho.Remeber those were things needed to get your pro to a xtpe with the extra pipelines.yours may still get to xt speeds without the 4 extra pipes...
