CPU fan not spinning on K8NXP-SLI

I have Gigabyte K8NXP-SLI on turning on the CPU fan spins briefly and then stops (good 4 noise bad 4 CPU) it continues to boot into windows and no warning messages. I leave the PC running for as long as I dare and then re boot, sometimes the CPU fan will start and continue to spin other time it stops again and I have to re boot .
The fan and HS are stock parts that came with the 3500 and the BIOS is version F6 the OS is XP Pro SP2 with all the C 'n' Q drivers, ect loaded and set.
Is this normal? has any one else experienced this? any ideas what could causing this and how to fix it? Cheers

Your BIOS may have a temp/fan parameter section.
My DFI did this (HSF fan would spin initially during boot but stop shortly thereafter) until I adjusted some settings in the BIOS.

Having a cpu fan not spinning is generally considered as not good news, have a check in the bios as BUFF said, but if not, check you ahve it connected properly or there is something that you have missed.

I don't think that that temp reading is correct !!!

Flash the latest BIOS to your motherboard !
