I would be most obliged if anyone can give me an opinion,
or recomendation concerning there experience with the Acer Aspire Laptops
Models 1674 wlmi & the 1804 wlmi.
I am considering purchasing one as a replacement Desktop.
It would not be used outside my home.

and believe me, I should know I have enough.
Never had any trouble with the Acer laptops I've bought/sold/used.
Not sure why you'd want to replace a desktop with one tho as your cutting your upgrade path right off...
Is it a space issue or do u often wonder around your house to work?
