Lidl Laptop - deal or bad idea?

    Hi,

My Mum is wanting to buy a laptop, she asked me to have a look at this:
    http://www.lidl.co.uk/gb/index.nsf/p...eller_Notebook

It'd be to replace her ageing PII. I'm just trying to find out if there is anything better out there for the cash or if this is a good deal for what appears to be a high-spec laptop.

    Cheers for the advice

    Bruno

It's good, but perhaps a little OTT if she'll only be using it for Word/Excel/Web browsing. There are cheaper options around that would be suitable for this.

I was looking at some of the Dell options, but with the 3yr guarantee the price goes up a bit (and she's looking for the extra piece of mind). It would be good if it's comparable to a decent desktop system, she will be using it for Photoshop and general dtp and presentations. If anyone can recommend a cheaper laptop with say 512Mb RAM, 80Gb HD, non-integrated gfx (e.g. not Intel Extreme or the likes) and also wireless LAN that'd be great.
