    Ati driver conflict with msn??

    How can it be.......

    i've recently got my A64 pc running and happlily snapped up a Sapphire Ati Radeon 9800 Pro for £91 incl. delivery @Overclockers.co.uk because they had used it in a display pc......

    i bung the drivers fire the gpu in and leave msn running in the background accidently while playing a game....

    the thing i've really noticed is that is does it on these games....

    -MOHAA
    -MOHAA:SH
    -MOHAA:BT
    -COD
    -COD:UO

    and what do all them games above have in common

    they use the QIII engine (aka .Pk3 files) .....

    so why does Ati drivers conflict with Quake 3 engine ?

    does anyone know ?

    or has anyone else looked at it in this perspective?

    I'm sorry, what happens? Crashing? MSn has had lots of problems recently and it's only just up to 100% again.

    it depends what game you play....

    on MOHAA.SH, AND BT -your contact comes online ,and makes the game flash like a wall hack :-| then when it goes down,it goes darker...

    on COD and UO -your contact comes online and flashes the game screen then once they has gone down,it makes the game darker

    Some 3D programs don't like MSN rendering over the top of them. It happens a lot in OpenGL stuff, didn't realise D3D was the same.

    It happens in the original half life too.
    PHP Code:
    $s = new signature();
    $s->sarcasm()->intellect()->font('Courier New')->display();

    If you can be specific, then I will definitely raise this with the driver team

    In your reply, please try and tie-down exactly what tehhardware/software set-up is...

    ...as well as the steps necessary to get this to happen

    do you have MSN set to always be on top?

    I have seen this issue you talk about if MSN is set to always ontop.
