    Unhappy SN25P New build - won't boot

One of my housemates recently asked me to help set him up with a new computer so we settled on the SN25P as its nf4, has pcie and is small.

Set it up as per the instuctions, plugged it in and...nothing...
All that happens is the vdimm led flashes briefly when the 1/0 on/off switch on the back of the psu is pressed.

I have checked the ram, hdd and dvd drives in my computer and they are all fine, I should be able to check the video card and cpu later too. Does anyone have any ideas what could be up? I'm thinking a psu or motherboard problem but I don't have enough experience to be sure.

Shuttle SN25P (with integrated shuttle psu)
    Winchester 3200+
2 x 512mb OCZ Premier DC Kit (verified working)
    Connect3d X800xl
    120gb Maxtor hdd
    Generic dvd-rw

    Thanks.

it can be a bit quirky on 1st power up

remove mains plug from rear of Shuttle, press and hold power button on front for 10 secs, then reconnect rear mains cable and try booting

do you hear fans spinning up at all ?

No the fans don't spin at all, literally nothing happens other than the vdimm led flash.

He bought it from kustompcs and they have offered to deliver a new one and collect the old one so you can't say fairer than that

The strange thing is that nothing happens at all....

A replacement is coming on friday so we'll see then. The x800xl works so it is either the processor or the shuttle. If it was just the processor that didn't work then I would have thought that it would power up and say no cpu or at least something would happen. However the lack of anything makes me thing shuttle psu or motherboard.

Not sure about yours cykopat, sounds bios/mobo related? Have you tried all your other components in another system?

Ok I removed the CPU, RAM and PCI-E Video card.. No drives either..

I turn it on and the DIMM light is green and all the fans come up but no post beep warnings like oh say, NO CPU, NO RAM, NO VIDEO, etc..etc.. Just runs.. I can't turn it off via the front power switch but when I hit the master power switch on the back I notice a little LED up near the front bezel on the MOBO flash RED real quick like half a second..

you need a minimum of cpu +1 mem stick in correct slot and arguably a GPU to do any sort of debugging

    cykopat,

Modern Shuttles don't have PC squeakers, no idea why not, they would save a lot of frustration so don't bet on hearing boot errors.

It just randomly started working this morning. I took the processor out to see if it would start up without a processor but nothing changed. I then took the power cable out the back and put it back in (not sure why really) and when I put the cable back in there was a fzzt and the dram light stayed on. The only difference between before was that when I put the power cable back in the 1/0 on/off switch was on/1 rather than off/0. Strange but i'm not complaining!!

I got mine fixed..I ordered another one and RMA'd the original back to shuttle.. Right of out the box I noticed something different with the back of the power supply. It fit very snug with the plug..

Installed it all with all my old parts and not a problem..Booted just fine..Now I just have the problem of the network card not working unless I restart or reinstall the driver after letting it sit for a period of time..

Hey guys I have this exact problem, how did you guys fix it in the end.

Mine has turned on once with all fans spinning up but no picture from screen and everything else seems dead. Every other time I've tried starting it up, the fans have just briefly tried to start and then stopped.

Is RMA the fix to this problem and also do you do the RMA through shuttle or through the distributor?
