AMD64s are the best 32-bit processors you can get. That's a big enough advantage for me right now. Future 64-bit benefits are just a bonus.

I was running an XP2500 @ XP3200 (have been for as long as I can remember ).. but it's given up and dies playing WoW now so I've had to clock back to stock (originally thought it was the graphics; with the display corruption.. thinking I was wrong now..).

Thus I'm going for an upgrade.. but it seems best to wait till July at least to see what ATI have to offer (hopefully something) and perharps then a drop in X850XT prices (they haven't changed in months from what I can see).
Then will grab a 3000+ venice and go for the OC
We cannot choose what we are.. but what are we but the sum of our choices?

My XP-M at 2.2Ghz and 9800 pro are still handling everything I throw at them (within reason).

I'll probably do the complete mobo/cpu/gfx card upgrade when an X800XT costs
about the same as a 9800pro does now...or I might just get an XBOX360 instead.

I got a AMD 64 3500+ in janurary. The main motive been it was the fastest prosesser for the money. THe 64 element might be a bonus in the future but im not overly botherd.

I think you'll find that a short list of users
But thats not the point. Being 64bit compatible is just a bonus in my view.

A64's are a lot faster than XP's for everything, and have much much better chipset support, memory support, etc, etc.

I also think A64's are a great investment. if you say spend the extra money on a decent setup and clock it to around 2.5-2.8ghz you have a very fast PC that will last you ages. hell AMD's fastest flagship chip is only 2.8ghz.

Currently still running a XP2500 @ roughly 2ghz - does the job for me and to be honest I haven't been playing as many games recently so my 9800 Pro is the ticket.

Probably going to build a middle range 64bit rig before Uni - nothing too fancy though.

I've been using various A64 chips for about 14 months now. Never really considered the 64-bitness a factor. The integrated memory controler is the greatest thing in computers in a while.

Still with my trusty P4 because I leave my upgrades as long as possible to get the most 'bang for buck'. Only now have I started getting frustrated with framerates on games, and i have a AGP board. Must admit it been a long wait for a major upgrade but I need a complete overhaul to get PCI express, but a nice new Athlon 64 should be sitting in case by mid next month.

I have my laptop which is a Pentium M at 2Ghz. Ticks away nicely. I am not thinking about upgrading to 64 bit for a long time as I would get another laptop, and 64 bit versions are expensive! (and hot at the moment)

The cost of moving to a pci-e platform is the reason am sticking with what i have.

My shuttle sn45g v2 does all that i need. plenty of ram, plenty of gpu power amd plenty of hdd space so no reason to move.

amd 2500 xp-m @ 2.3ghz, 1gb of ram, x800 xt pe and 410gb of hdd space is more then enuff for most users
