DVI to 15-pin adaptors are not hard to come upon. Quality is just as good as a native 15-pin plug.
My 6800GT only has DVI ports, but my 21" Sony CRT works quite well with it.

A nice 21" CRT would be nice.
im gonna look into it, my rooms rather small a beasty 21" CRT could replace my bed lol
when i get a job though i can always make use of the dual monitor support on the 7800gtx and get a huge monitor next year

so its pritty much pointless buying a GTX unless you have a 21" CRT monitor or more and run it at its maximum resolution.
your computer is similar to a fridge in that if it cannot keep a beer cold then it sucks
It depends, at 1024x768 compared to 1280x1024 in alot of games there are no FPS differences because the games are CPU limited, you only notice a drop at resolutions above 1600x1200Originally Posted by unrealuniverse

See above. This shows Doom 3 benchies. An example of a CPU limited game. (Credit to Guru3D for the graph)
what graphics card would you recommend to use with a 15" monitor. i would like to play the latest games for quite a number of years. i've currently got a GeForce 4 Ti 4600.

convinced me, CRT it is. i found a 19" one but a res of 1600x1200 for bout £120, the extra money from not buying a LCD goes towards the processor however an FX is prolly out of my price range, i mean the cheapest is 600 squids
thx guys
unreal, i dont think its right to pair a gfx card with a monitor. but i think most guys would say the 1024x768 pixels your monitor has dosent require much processing power. depends if you like your games full gfx or not. if you want a gfx card to process modern games on full gfx at that res im not sure but a geforce 6600 seems adequate?

Plain 6800, 9800Pro, 6600GT would be the best card, probably.Originally Posted by unrealuniverse
You can find an article analysing the performance of a 7800GTX with various A64s at the Firingsquad: http://www.firingsquad.com/hardware/...ng/default.asp
Basically they recommend something in the 3500+ areas.
Excellent, ill read this in the morning, cheers.Originally Posted by TooNice
thanks for your hints, i only have enough room for a 15" monitor so i cannot play at resolutions greater than 1280x1024.Originally Posted by Smokey21
