    Motherboard monitor 5
    (MBM5)

is the best program to measure temps etc.

BUT, remember that your systemps built in temprature probes arnt exactly accurate, i suggest you invest a little money and get some real temp sensors.

PC Wizard 2005 is a good peice of software, when you minimise it it prints overlay text on the top right hand side of your screen stating CPU/FSB frequency, core voltage, and cpu temp.. as well as all the other hardware info/benchies n stuff. Take a look at it

Does MBM5 record readings over a period of time? Thats what im really after, possibly voltages etc too. I don't want to have to sit there watching a reading. I want to be able to run games, tourture tests, benchmarks and just generally get on with things over a period of time and see what's making my CPU sweat the most etc.

Also, if prime95 does not really work thre processor that hard (I have been lead to believe that it stressed the CPU almost 100%), what is the ultimate way to bring a CPU to it's knees and make the begger work at it's absolute limit?

S&M will kick you CPU, memory and PSU in the nuts then rip their head off and cr@p down their....you get the idea.....S&M is better than prime 95 for torture testing

Get S&M here or google it - great program

Speedfan does that type of monitoring your after (see above link also) - unsure about MBM5 (I should really get around to getting that)

S&M may sound dodgy - but its a great stress testing tool!!

I've got an Asus motherboard so I normally use the Asus Probe software that comes with it. The thing is, my mate reckons that the temperature sensors used on Asus motherboards aren't up to scratch, and that I can normally add at least 10 degrees to any temperature it comes up with. I really hope he's wrong on this one as this would imply that my processor (Althon 64 3500 Winchester) has been running at some disturbingly high temperatures!

Asus probes are notorious for bad temperature reporting!! Test it with a thermal probe

Spend 20 quid on a LCD screen - then run LCD smartie and it works on any motherboard with a parallel port (even mine has one of those). Mines white text on backlit blue - loverly.
