Buying a new PDA

Hey guys,

I'm new to the forums, and i've recently got my dreadful a2 results, but still able to go to my 1st choice (City Uni studying computer science and games technology)

I was thinking of buying a laptop but i can't really justify that purchase as i won't be using it at all at home.

So a pda and lil keyboard accessory will be good enough! I have a budget of £150 for the pda, i don't mind if it is new or 2nd hand.

The two i've been looking at are...
Dell Axim X30 for £140 ish
Wifi (surfing while at uni etc.)
or the
HP IPAQ RZ1710
this doesn't have wifi etc.

Anyone have experience with PDA's and can you give me a helping hand?

I went in micro anvika today and saw the keyboard acessory which is bluetooth and can be folded to the size of the pda, i didn't bother asking the price as it would probably cost more than a pda in there.

tbh youll get a laptop for that price, admittedly itll be either a low end dell (if you include your keyboard budget, which is gonna set you back another hundred if you want a bluetooth one) or second hand, but neither are hge problems if its only for typing.

What exact use are you going in for? A lot of comp sci guys i know spend inordinate amounts of time in the clusters at uni anyway, and i assume you have a half decent desktop? If you do youre set, forget about taking notes on one, itll last about a week, if that, and goes out the window as soon as you need to draw anything or write down a formula (would have thought games courses would include fairly decent amounts of mechanics, vector calc + fluid dynamics.)

Well, i think you're right, tbh i probably won't need one. And when it comes to drawing etc. i might aswel be using a pen n paper. I definately won't be getting a laptop though, for that price it will be HUGE!! lol
Thanks for your opinions, but i will put off my pda purchase for a month, may buy one but i doubt it.
