    Mouse problem, windows doesn't recognise

So i have a standard MS basic optical mouse, in fact i have 2.

I also have 2 laptops in the house, and one has recently just decided to ignore one of the mice. Here is the message it gives:

BUT, the other laptop sees both mice fine , and both work. and the laptop that doesn't recognize the one mouse happily accepts the other.

So i'm lost , seems neither the laptop or mouse has a real fault. But both mice are identical (except one is black the other is white but they are the same model)

When you get that message normally if you go into device manager and the removable hardware tool on the taskbar, Stop the device and remove it from the system.

After that reboot the system and reconnect the mouse.
    It should then re-install

My PC does it all the time when I connect my Tom Tom Go for some reason

Thanks i'll try it, seems to be causing trouble on the other laptop now too so the mouse may well be broken

Slight problem, it doesn't even show up in the device manager or the removable hardware thing on the taskbar
