Doo Doo Doo Da Da DA...
I've got a set of these and they are really nice! The build quality is superb and the sound quality is just as good.

Obviously they know what they're doing , but just seems odd to me. Question is, would those keep up with the Klipsch Promedia 2.1 set? Since Klipsch seems to be regarded as top dog
Bought these, not impressed
They lack buzz-bass, they can do the shaking, but nothing between mid-low and low low.
Hard to explain , basically i can feel it moving, but i can't hear the bass like i can with other people's 2.1 sets and my old hi-fi.
So i'm going to try and get some creative set like the guy a couple of floors above me
But you can't get anything better for the same price, thats for sure - Also, have you tried all the different modes? Some work better than others and give better sound - I'm not an expert on music and speakers. I think you were expecting too much, although the review on the net compare em favourably to Klipsch ones
I could always hear the bass when I had a set My housemates always used to complain alot about em - I definitely found that using spdif coaxial was much better than using the standard connectors though!

These speakers actually do too much in a sense, what i was trying to describe is that they go more than low enough to shake the ground, but i want the bass before it gets that low, i want the buzz/rumble. To hear the bass not just feel it on surfaces.
I'm sure the people below me can hear the bass fine i just don't get any to my ears
I found the creative set that the other guy has:

They don't go that loud, and they do distort a little at max but anywhere up to there produces the kind of sound i'm looking for.
I have got creative inspire 6700 speakers if you can find some there great mind you i only use the four speakers no space.http://uk.europe.creative.com/shop/category.asp?cate=3
I've got these babies and they have a great sound. Being used to playing through my Hi-Fi before I moved, I actually prefer the sound from these.

I just picked up a Creative P5800 5.1 system from Currys for £49.95 a couple of weeks ago, an absolute bargain for the quality of sound you get from it!
My Rig: 'Hellcat'
Asus M3A78-T
AMD Phenom II 720 @stock (for now)
2x2Gb Corsair XMS2 PC8500 c5
Maxtor 250Gb SataII, 6V250F0
Nvidia Geforce 7950GT
Pioneer DVR 110D (black)
Akasa Eclipse 62 + window panel
Corsair VX450w psu
AG Neovo HW22 tft panel
Creative P5800 5.1 surround system
Why is that a good thing? Just because they have a big farty sub thats loud at about 80hz doesnt mean they are any good, all creative speakers (except gigaworks) ive ever heard have been absolute papOriginally Posted by Atomic
In my (limited) experience Creative speakers sound a bit pants, tbh.
Everything Logitech I've heard sounds good.
Recently bought a set of Altec Lansing limited edition black VS2121 2.1 speakers from PC World for £30.00, which was a good price. I got them for my stand alone Linux machine. They're Ok, but bit of a let down is no bass volume control on woofer.
Which means if you want to crank them up, they can sound a bit boomy. But if you only going for moderate sound levels, they'll do ya, good price and they sound clear crisp and detailed.
I must have been one the few idiots who actually bought a set of Hercules 5.1 speakers, they really don't sound very good at all Me soon upgrade to Logi 5.1.
nip down to your local ritcher sounds and get a stereo amp and some bookshelf speakers. They will sound better than the plastic PC speakers. Failing that so does your stereo
HT
Now I don't want to flame you, but this is complete tosh. Even at Richer the cheapest Amp is £60 (and doesn't look too hot to me) and the cheapest non-plasticky magnetically shielded speakers are £80 (plus they need stands, and they really need a sub-woofer say users). This seems quite a lot more than £45 to me.Originally Posted by happytechie

that the £80 cambridge audio A1 + £50 Mission M2SS will sound better than a pair of 2.1 plastic computer speakers? Or that it costs more than £40? I'm not sugesting it as a cheep option, I'm sugestiong it as a better option. I bet the OP has a decent stereo kicking around somewhere as well.
All I'm saying is that hi fi speakers will sound better without a sub (as they are bigger and thus create more bass) and that he will get a better quality of sound by moving away form kit designed for a PC and towards kit designed for audio.
this isn't a flame either, it's a discussion I think
HT
Clearly £150 worth of kit will sound better than £50. But if someone says he has £50 to spend there's not much point in telling him to spend £150. Besides the Missions are not magnetically shielded, which could cause problems in a small room.
And you're making a big assumption on the stereo front.
