Highly recommend these. I have 1 in my media PC & 1 on my other rig. Both running 3000 winchesters in aspire q-pack casesOriginally Posted by Memphis`
I had a Asus A8N-VM CSM for a couple of weeks now. The first one had a faulty usb controller and faulty onboard sound. Having said that the replacement's been very stable. I've been running dvd rebuilder and cce almost continuously on it with a 4400 x2 and 2gb of crucial memory in a raid 0 array. (It's a bit choosy about memory, so doublecheck). Otherwise, rock solid.
A couple of things to be aware of is that it's no good for overclocking, and spdif and video out are both optional extras - which are hard to source.
The best bios is the 0506 - which seems to be off by about 10 degrees when you check the cpu and mobo temps.
A week ago asus released a 0610 bios which was quickly pulled. It turned out the 610 bios hadn't been properly checked on systems running an OS under raid. Killed 'em stone dead. If you use a single drive for the OS and a raid array for data it's been reported to work fine and shows more accurate temps, but I'm not that brave.
There's talk it's got a problem with gigabyte lan, but since I don't have a gb router I can't confirm that.
An alternative would be the msi version of this board with 7.1 surround sound rather than 5.1 on the asus.
There's a lot of additional info about the two boards in this thread:
