My program wont work with no registries Kool.. And it has files everywhere around the system, even if it DOES work (which it doesnt).. I'll have hell uninstalling it..
The silly thing about this program is that it requires u to install it on another disk.. i mean physically another disk.. but like 30% of the program is installed in the Windows system folder.. So its a bummer of a software to use if u dun have an uninstall or a start menu with linkies to each configurator..

Oh, what a bummer mate! I see now.Originally Posted by sawyen
Can you not [export the registry keys/copy the config files] which contain any configuration settings and [import them/copy them back] again after you reinstall the program, or are there randomly-generated SID-specific (for example) bits of stuff in there that won't work if you just rip them wholesale from one machine and stick them in another?Originally Posted by sawyen
Well, not sure what you meant by it, but I did try to export some of the configuration files a while back from the lab acquisition server in hopes I dont have to go thru the entire setting up, but it didnt recognise it.. gives this silly message like '*BIG RED CIRLE CROSS* QUANT has suffered an unrecoverable error, hardware profile and algorithm registry not applicable in simulation run. Please restart QUANT'

Hmmm: "hardware profile" doesn't sound too promising. Do you know what it's referring to, i.e. your hardware, or the spectromificator (or whatever ) hardware at the other end? It sounds as if either a) the software is auto-generating a hardware profile to match your system, and won't work on a different one or b) you didn't export everything that was installed with the program.
Do you know which, if any, registry keys are created during install and altered during configuration?
Never checked really.. perhaps there is, but I cant tell now unless I go check each registry keys date and make a config change.. then go back to regedit and see which one changes?
But at the end there's too many variables.. I'll probably end up spending more time collecting registries and config files than compared to a fresh install..
I'll just have a go with unstinalling drivers and NV stuff then try it out fingers crossed.. nothing else to try now really..

Hehe - sounds like the best plan. I guess there's just some times when you have to bite the bullet.Originally Posted by sawyen
Might be worth using some kind of registry monitor/file monitor if you do have to do the install/configuration again though - if you find out exactly what it does, you may be able to save yourself further hassle in the future should you need to reinstall yet again...
