DVD writing people, Ritek still reliable?

I've been using Ridata for a while but i wanted to try a printable disc, is Ritek as reliable?

Ritek are about the best out there for making backups, just make sure it has the ritek g05 dye and they will work on 99% of standalone players.

Never had a failure with a ritek dvd-r yet, used over 200 of them.

Yup, that dye is spot on, no complaints from me either.

It depends what kind of burner/firmware you have.

I've gone off Riteks and much prefer discs with a Taiyo Yuden TYG02 dyes like these:

They're a bit more expensive, but the quality is perfect on my NEC burner.

ever since i started making backup's / burning DVD's ive used Ritek disks and like the boys said above the g05 dye is second to none

People who have a problem with something are always going to be more vocal than those who are totally happy, i can only speak from personal experience and having used a lot of ritek g05 dvd`s i am vey happy with them, not a coaster yet.

Ritek a fine for value, but there -are- more variance to them from batch to batch.

Taiyo Yuden are overall more consistant, assuming you are getting the real thing

Im using those exact ones linked at the moment without any problems. Mainly because its fullface printable, and secondly, because Rambox is close to where i live

always had good results with ritek, for me, failiure rates seem to be very low (only 2 duffers out of 200, and they were the marked), ive had some of the R1 recently and they have been good, but i have had slightly more duff ones than the G05.

well yeah i also want a disc that last a long time too in storage.

Can you link me to where you buy your Taiyo Yudens please?

Marcos, if you look at the my post earlier in this thread you'll see a link there to SVP. Basically you want any dye with TYG02 as the media code. These are 8x Tayo Yuden discs.



And if it's important stuff I always verify the disc after burning. Most software has this built in but CDCheck is good as a stand alone programme to verify a burn.
