Question To SLI or not to SLI...

I have seen some SLI bundles for between £200 - £300, this is a SLI board and 2 GFX cards (eg 9800's).
I can't afford the world so I was wondering f I would be better off getting:
    a) SLI board and 2 cards
    b) or, a board that is PCI-E ready and just 1 GFX card for the same price?

In other words how best do I spend 200-300 quid on boosting my graphics with my current set up?

Any advice please, I really know nadda about Sli.

    Cheers.

I don't understand. SLI and 2x 9800? How does that work. Even if you meant Crossfire, I didn't know they made 9800 in Crossfire flavor.

But I think it is best to go PCI-E and 1 GFX card in any case. SLI just doesn't work for the budget minded. By the time you can afford a second card, it makes more sense to sell the first card and get the next gen card.

SLI only if you buy two high end cards now or a second card very shortly after. Next gen single cards outperform 2 last gen cards in SLI. Sell old card & buy new card... simple.

    I meant this

    http://www.komplett.co.uk/k/ki.asp?sku=319937

Sounds good to me, certainly a lot better than what I have!

Or, I could do this instead:

    and a

    http://www.komplett.co.uk/k/ki.asp?sku=317392

    What would be better?

Yeah I see your point chig but surely the above ^^ are pretty close performance wise...? SLi setup not better?

The [cheaper] 7600GT. With the spare change you can even get a better mobo, or just keep the money

im quite impressed with the proformace of my sli 6800gts and would recomend sli to anyone who wants overkill 200fps is total overkill in games but nice to say u have it though

i found my sli was better than my freinds single 7800gt but the cost of sli is greater but his rig has a better cpu and ram.

in the end u could just get an sli mobo and a single better gfx and upgrade when thegfx's come down in price to sli
