Thanks for the first hand info - I wasnt sure whether to get 2 gig straight off on my new PC, but this makes the rationalisation I have been telling myself all better now
Im on XP and 512mb RAM and everytime the paging file is used - I just have to reboot, everything becomes too slow. I'm pretty sure I have lowered the life expectancy of my WD250
I think BF2 wants 1.5Gb RAM. It definitely shows performance gains in play - less chugging and you can run higher graphics settings.
2Gb does make a difference, particularly if you use memory hungry apps, heavy multitasking or running Virtual Machines. For most users, 1Gb is sufficient.
Intel i5 2500k @ stock
Thermalright SI-128 (Bolt-through)
Asus P8Z68V/Gen3
2x8Gb DDR3
ASUS GTX 670 DirectCU II 2Gb
2 gig is nice...but going from 1gig to 2 gig was not such a leap in performance as going from 512 to 1 gig.
