    DS3 or P5B mobo for E6300

    hey everybody!

its almost time for me to oder my rig (as seen below), in fact tue next week, but i have been hearing both good and bad things about the gigabyte DS3 iv speced so was wondering if anyone has heard anytihng about my backup mobo, the asus P5B.

there both about the same price and have similar specs so i cant decide! i have no need for anything higher spec as for 1 i cant afford it and 2 im not looking for a second PCI x16 slot as am not really intrested in SLI or crosfire, will just replace the gfx card instead of add another 1

also are either of these boards easier to set up then theother as this will be my first build and im not massively clued up on what to do, but when the time comes, im sure ill be on here posting something new everyday!!

also a note to OCing, im wanting a little wiggle room as its an easy way to up preformance for nothing so thats something to concider....

cheers you lot for any help

DS3 is looking like a cracking clocker. Have a look at the HardOCP conroe thread, most people with the E6300 have them for 2 reasons: Good FSB overclocks, and it's a good matching budget board.

Only issue I've seen is the lack of RAM dividers below 1:1, so you need fast ram. Good thing is that most DDR2 (ie a lot of the PC5400 kits) will do 800+ speeds if you slacken the timings.

However I would look mainly at what features you want, and there are going to be a lot more 965 boards around soon, so if you can wait, then it's probably a good idea

Techreport for some reasons suggests the Abit AB9 pro, same price as DS4.
