    ICY BOX - Spare PSU?

I've just bought an Icy Box external caddy (the USB/IDE/SATA version). I'm looking for a spare PSU so that I can leave a PSU at work and a PSU at home (saves carrying it around!).

The PSU is a 5/12v unit pushing out 2amps - unfortunately the only spare PSU I have (off one of my old PSU's) is a 5/12v unit pushing out 3amps. I'm a little hesitant about plugging it in to my nice new shiny caddy! (Even though the pin arrangement on the small DIN-like plug is the same).

Anybody got any ideas where I can buy a spare from? Ideally less than the price of a new caddy !

a greater *maximum* current isn't a problem. As long as the voltage is correct and the current is the minimum required or higher you will be fine.

The current rating on a power supply is the maximum it can deliver, the device doesn't get it if it doesn't need it.

Thanks for the info - I've tried it on the old power supply and all looks good.

    Great news!
